Description
A. The NYG-COM is equivalent to the U.S. Army Commendation Medal. It is given to that member of the NYG whose performance of duty is far above that normally expected of someone in their grade and position. It may be given for achievement or service.
B. A Bronze oak leaf clusters b-oak will be awarded in lieu of additional medals.
A silver oak leaf cluster s-oak will be awarded in lieu of five bronze.
C. The NYG-COM has a green ribbon with three white stripes, the center one thicker than the others. The old NYG-COM has a white ribbon with a blue center stripe with two narrow yellow stripes to either side and must have a NYS silver shield in the center. Where there have been additional awards, oak leaf clusters may be worn to the right and left of the NYS silver shield at the discretion of the wearer.
D. Both the new and old NYG-COM ribbons may be worn at the same time side by side with the new taking precedence over the old.
